Biographies of 13 people spanning 18th to 20th century. The book uses "simplified spelling" - certain words are shortened phonetically, but few enough that the text is quite readable.

Illustrated paper covers, 4to, 144 pp with notes and a detailed chronology of Homer's "works including blacks," This book contains many bw and color works including planning sketches, woodcuts for Harper's Weekly and paintings, accompanied by relevant history and analysis, based on a 1988-89 exhibition. G: cover scuffed, edges worn, front cover and half the pages corner creased, light smudge on edges, clean, no markings other than inscription.
