Caroline Mytinger, Headhunting in the Solomon Islands Around the Coral Sea, New York, The Macmillan Company, 1942, not a first printing. Brown cloth hc with black mask on front and gold lettering on spine, 8vo (21 cm), xii, 416 pp, 8 bw plates of the author's paintings, line drawings throughout; paper dustjacket with ads on the back. Adventures of two American women who not only encounter patriarchal natives in the Solomon Islands and New Guinea, but also navigate British colonial society (such as having to print a calling card in the islands). Very Good/Fair: corners bumped and light fading on edges, pages crisp, no markings; DJ cracked in two at spine, large chips on edges with some border design loss, tanned.
